Why slides are different
The 35mm slide was the choice of serious photographers from the early 1950s through the 1990s — because it captured significantly more detail than standard prints. A well-preserved slide from 1968 can produce a sharper digital image than a print taken with a modern consumer camera.
But slides degrade. Colour dye fades — particularly the cyan layer, which is why older slides often appear orange or red. Mold grows on the emulsion in humid conditions. Slides forgotten in a Texas garage for decades are at serious risk.
High-resolution scanning and colour correction can recover most of that lost detail — but only before deterioration becomes irreversible.
Slide formats
The most common slide storage format. We accept full trays — no need to remove individual slides before we arrive.
Individual mounted slides from any era — boxes, sleeves, or loose. All accepted exactly as they are.
35mm negative strips and medium format negatives — scanned at 2,400 DPI to preserve maximum detail.
Colour-shifted, mold-affected, or physically damaged slides — handled with extra care and restoration.
The process
We come to you anywhere in the Austin metro at a time that suits you. You don't need to remove slides from their carousels or organise anything. We catalogue every item in front of you and hand you a signed inventory receipt before anything leaves.
Each slide is scanned individually at archival resolution. Colour correction restores accurate hues — particularly for slides where the cyan dye layer has shifted. Dust and scratch removal is included. All work is done in Austin, in-house.
Your slides are organized alongside your photos and films into one finished archive. Files are named by date and event. You receive a private cloud link and your original slides are returned in person.

No. We accept full Carousel trays, slide boxes, sleeves, and loose slides exactly as they are. You don't need to organise or touch anything before we arrive.
